Does your travel insurance cover my luggage?

Our Comprehensive, Multi Trip and Domestic Plans provide up to $5,000 cover for lost or stolen luggage, subject to the policy’s terms and conditions.

You are required to take all reasonable precautions to protect yourself and your belongings. For instance, no claim is payable if you leave your luggage unsupervised in a public place or unattended in an unlocked vehicle. Valuable items such as jewellery, cameras and computer equipment may only be covered if they travel with you in hand luggage rather than in a suitcase you check in.

When you make a claim you’ll need to provide full details of what was in your luggage, so we recommend that you make a list of everything you pack. You’ll also need to provide proof that you reported the theft or loss of your luggage to the relevant airline, hotel, travel company or police within 24 hours.
