Home insurance is designed to cover your buildings, so if you also want protection for your furniture and personal possessions you could consider taking out home contents insurance too. Home Insurance in brief*
We understand that your home is more than just the building you live in. That’s why 1300 Insurance Home Insurance covers the permanent buildings on your property, including your house, garage or carport, as well as fixtures like windows, kitchen and bathroom fittings, awnings and blinds, decks, patios and fences. With Classic Home Insurance and Prestige Home Insurance, you may also be covered for the cost of landscaping up to the specified limit.
1300 Insurance Home Insurance can protect your home from storms, lightning strikes, fires, theft or malicious acts. It can even cover damage caused by something falling on your home, like a tree or aerial – and with Prestige Home Insurance you can also get cover for accidental loss or damage to your buildings (unless specifically excluded). Make sure you check the PDS which sets out the standard terms, conditions, limits and exclusions of cover.
We offer a choice of home insurance products to suit customers with different needs. We may be able to help whether you want cover for specified insured events, or more comprehensive accidental loss or damage cover.
All 1300 Insurance Home Insurance products are packed with great benefits, including cover for accidental breakage of glass. They even include cover for your legal liability if someone else not living with you is injured at your home.
Make sure you check the PDS which sets out the standard terms, conditions, limits and exclusions of cover.
With 1300 Insurance you can spread the cost of your home insurance by paying monthly without paying extra. Whether you opt for annual or monthly instalments, you’ll pay the same total premium to protect your precious home.2
Not made a claim on your home or contents insurance in the last five years? You may be able to reduce the cost of your home insurance policy with a no claims bonus of up to 30%. What’s more – you may still be able to qualify for a reduced no claims bonus even if you’ve made up to two claims in that period.1,3
*For the standard terms, conditions, limits and exclusions of cover, please refer to the relevant PDS.
It’s vital that the sum you insure under your home insurance policy is sufficient to allow you to rebuild your home and its fixtures if it were destroyed. Because building costs rise each year, the insurer under your 1300 Insurance Home Insurance policy will automatically offer to increase the amount of your sum insured every time you renew your policy.
We understand that accidents can just happen. 1300 Insurance Home Insurance is designed to protect you against the small things like broken windows and burst pipes, as well as catastrophes like earthquakes, fires and storms which we hope you’ll never experience.
Get cover for specified insured events like storm damage, theft or fire with Vital Home Insurance or Classic Home Insurance or protect your home against accidental loss or damage (unless specifically excluded) with Prestige Home Insurance. With 1300 Insurance Home Insurance you’ll benefit from great features like replacement of locks, and cover for the cost of discharging your mortgage. Be sure to check the PDS which sets out the standard terms, conditions, limits and exclusions of cover.

Home insurance transfers many of the risks home owners face from you to the insurer. However, it is important to understand that home insurance does not cover every circumstance or expense that you may incur and there are some exclusions to the cover. For the standard terms, conditions, limits and exclusions of cover, please refer to the relevant Product Disclosure Statement.

Before making a decision, please consider the relevant Product Disclosure Statement available here. If you purchase this insurance, we will receive a commission that is a percentage of the premium. We will also receive a percentage of the profit which exceeds the profit threshold on Home (excluding flood), Landlord (excluding flood), Motor and Caravan and Trailer policies arranged or referred by us (or renewed with Allianz) in each calendar year, provided that the relevant premium threshold is met for those policies and Business insurance policies that we refer to Allianz. From 1 September 2018, we will also receive an annual marketing allowance from Allianz for promoting its products. This is calculated as a percentage of the premium on Home, Landlord, Motor, Caravan and Trailer and Business insurance policies arranged or referred by us to Allianz in the previous 12-month period. Ask us for more details before we provide you with services.
1 Minimum premiums may apply. Any discounts/entitlements may be subject to rounding and only apply to the extent any minimum premium is not reached. If you are eligible for more than one, we also apply each of them in a predetermined order to the premium (excluding taxes and government charges) as reduced by any prior applied discounts/entitlements. Discounts may not be applied to the premium for optional covers, such as flood (where applicable).
2 Premiums payable by instalments may be subject to minor adjustments (upwards or downwards) due to rounding and financial institution transaction fees may apply.
3 To qualify for the maximum No Claim Bonus of 30%, customers must have had no home or contents insurance claims in the preceding five years. However, customers who have had up to two claims may still qualify for reduced No Claim Bonus.

Either way, your claim will be dealt with as quickly as possible.
Buying home and contents covers in a single policy is the easy way to get peace of mind – and with a discount of up to 10% for buying these covers together1, you could save on your premium.
If you choose Classic or Prestige Home Insurance there are also a number of options for you to choose from, which will change the premium you pay. These include cover for flood (which is subject to eligibility) and cover for portable contents that you carry with you away from home (available only with contents cover).
There will be a number of differences between Allianz home and contents insurance and the home and contents insurance policies offered by other insurers. Make sure that you read the Product Disclosure Statement for the standard terms, conditions, limits and exclusions of cover before you buy any insurance, so that you know exactly what is and isn’t covered.
Some great benefits of Allianz home and contents insurance include:
- A choice of optional extras, so you can tailor the policy to your needs
- A variable excess feature (allowing you to increase your excess to save money on your premiums1)
- The option to pay your premiums monthly, at no extra cost (premiums payable by instalments may be subject to minor adjustments due to rounding and financial institution transaction fees may apply)
- A quick and simple paperless application process
Home and contents insurance premiums are calculated on the basis of the risk you present to the insurer.
Risk is affected by a number of factors, such as:
- the location of your home
- the value of your home and possessions
- the material your home is constructed from
- the security devices you have installed to protect your home
- how your home is occupied
- the frequency of claims made by you or by previous owners of your home
Your premium will also depend on the amount you wish to insure, the level of cover you choose and any optional extras you add to your policy.
Before you buy home and/or contents insurance, you have a duty of disclosure to tell the insurer anything you know and that a reasonable person in the circumstances would include in their answer to any questions the insurer asks that are relevant to their decision to insure you and on what terms. This duty applies until the insurer agrees to insure you. If you don’t comply, the insurer may cancel your contract, reduce the amount payable for a claim, or both. If your failure is fraudulent, the insurer can refuse a claim and treat the contract as if it never existed.
The home and contents insurance products we offer are underwritten by Allianz Australia Insurance Limited ABN 15 000 122 850, AFSL No 234708 (Allianz).
