Is neutering or de-sexing covered by pet insurance?

De-sexing a dog or cat is one of the most common vet procedures in Australia.

As de-sexing is optional for pet owners it is not usually covered by pet insurance. However, with our best insurance plan, comprehensive cover with the extra Routine Care option, we will contribute $70 Annual Benefit towards the cost of de-sexing your pet.

For a monthly premium of $10.96 Routine Care gives you additional annual benefits of up to $165 towards regular preventative vet treatments:

  • $30 – Vaccinations or health check
  • $10 – Heartworm test or blood screen
  • $10 – FeLv/Fiv test or urinalysis
  • $45 – Flea /tick/worm control
  • $70 for one of the following services: de-sexing, microchipping, heartworm preventative medication, teeth cleaning, council registration fees, alternative therapies, prescription diets, de-clawing or cremation / burial.
